I have the well in the middle under the patio, perhaps it is possible to place posts on each side of it but I had hoped to avoid that with a larger dimension (45x220). I saw in a table that it should handle 4 meters. Could glulam beams be an alternative??
Regarding footings and extra support beams, you have already received correct advice; there are no shortcuts.
On the short side, I think you should lay the decking in the same direction as on the long side.
It looks very high, are you aware of what requires a building permit in your municipality?
Plan for the frame and posts already now.
If you go down to s400 and quality C24 for the floor joists, it is largely dimensioned according to the standard. However, I cannot promise that it won't sway a bit in the middle as stated above. I don't really know if you can buy pressure treated timber in C24 either, but the lumberyard surely knows.
Thanks for all the tips, I'll have to go out and measure a bit to see how I can solve this, with the eaves the ends on the short side aren't visible either.. but with 2 meters between the joist hangers, I can go down to 45 x 170, right?
Nimajneb wants to set the main beam against the basement wall, under the panel but not so low that I can't open the door. I can have the main beam in the middle lower, but I'm a bit vain too
Here's how it looks now, with a beam in the middle and a maximum of 2m between the footings there are 12 of them, it's going to be some work to dig down to frost-free depth, but I don't want to take any shortcuts. I'm demolishing an old deck that the previous owner built poorly.
I've drawn 45x145 for the floor joists which span a maximum of 2m to the beams in 45x170. The middle beam is underneath so I can lay whole 4m floor joists, thanks for the tip on that! Feedback, anything else to consider?
What is in the ground you will dig for the plinths? If it isn't rocky, I recommend you buy a manual earth auger, costs around 200:- and is available at jula, cheapy etc. Speeds up the digging for the plinths considerably.
