Hello! I would like to open up between the hall and the living room in our condominium from 1920. A wall about 160 cm where there is currently a door. I guess it is a wall built on planks and then covered with plaster (about 10 cm). The wall runs in the same direction as the joists (green arrow on the picture).

I have received a response from the association that it should not be load-bearing but they disclaim responsibility if there should be any settling and possible cracking at the seams in neighbors' apartments. What do you think about the load-bearing capacity of the wall? Any tips on a skilled contractor in Stockholm that could be hired?

Thank you in advance

Hello,

Have you found a designer? I am also looking for one for simpler jobs. Regards, //OLof

Unfortunately not..

Did you manage to get one in the end?

Yes, after some searching I spoke with two companies. One was a construction firm that would charge quite a lot to calculate the changes and the other was the construction firm that originally designed the house. The latter helped me for free over the phone on two occasions.

Great, and congratulations!

I managed to find an engineer for a previous case in the neighboring association, and they solved it for free too, a bit of luck here as well :)
