Don't know if this really falls under building conservation. I am going to cover an opening between two rooms that we recently exposed. The opening was there before but was sealed up.

I don't want to cover it in a "foreign" way, i.e., with MDF or similar, but would like to have returns made of slightly thicker wood with rounded moldings like the other decorations in the house. However, I don't know how to achieve this.

I have a hand router, but the radius of the rounding should be quite large. How large bits can I use to rout myself? Anyone have tips on a place in Örebro where I can order these if I can't rout them myself?

Grateful for answers.

there are so many different types of steel. a tip is to do a little search on the internet. and let the milling cutter do the work. don't press too hard when working with the milling machine

Continuing my thread. I looked at the other thresholds in the house and see that it varies a bit here and there, but I think a rounding router bit of 9.5 mm might be good. But that's just a guess, of course.

But I'm wondering what kind of piece I should use for the threshold. The opening to be covered is 15.5 cm wide. It should ideally be about 2 cm thick and, of course, planed. But most planed ones I find are several cm under what I need. What's left? Planed plank?

Last time I did a similar job myself, I bought laminated shelving boards at Coop.

Yes, I actually considered just those kinds of shelves but was a bit unsure about how nice it would look considering the "stavarna". But I'll look into it, thanks for the tip!

Here you go.

Came up with another variant that I've also used if you want some structure, unfortunately, I don't have any pictures left after a hard drive crash.

But I fixed regular 70 doorframes at the edge and glued a dowel in the middle which I caulked, it added some life to the opening. The downside was that I had to caulk three, four times before all bubbles disappeared.
