I am going to install a patio door in my old concrete basement (about 200mm thick wall). The opening is an old garage door size and is larger than the door, so I need to build a wall around it.

How should the wall be constructed? I was thinking of using 120x45 studs and I have some leftover fiber cement boards, can I mount them on the outside of the studs and then panel on the fiber cement? Is a wind barrier needed then?

Can I place a wooden stud directly against the basement floor ?pressure-treated?

Place roofing felt under the rule. Treated timber should not be used indoors.

Ok, that's how it will be. I have read up a bit more and believe I have the principle clear. I have tar paper that I plan to cut and use as sylpapp. On the sylpapp, I will place regular 120x45 beams horizontally on the slab and in the ceiling, minerit boards (as wind protection) will be screwed into similar vertical beams.

Now I'm wondering how I attach paneling to the minerit (9mm boards)?

Minerit seemed difficult to work with, so I bought asfaboard.

The next question is how I should mount the studs. Block against the wall and ceiling (cast ceiling) or with a gap and insulation in between?

It went so-so, turned out nice but the studs are absorbing moisture

Wood frame with insulation inside, showing timber soaking moisture.

Room interior with a newly installed door and moisture-damaged wooden panels beside it, reflecting concerns about moisture absorption.

A white door installed in a black wooden exterior wall, showing signs of moisture at the base. A green watering can is visible nearby.

I had bricked up that opening with leca and plastered it.

Mmm, that's what happens when you play without thinking :)

I would have taken a larger sill that you could fold up.
I would have installed mineritskiver.
Possibly a sheet at the bottom.

Is it worth trying to take down the wall, lay a wider sill downwards, and then put it up again?

What should it look like between the existing basement wall and the standing studs? Today I've caulked, should there also be sill paper there?

Maybe install minerit behind the panel?

You should have laid a layer of leca/lightweight concrete at the bottom before the sill. Water will always seep in if the sill is directly on the ground.

There is a barrier about 3 cm from the "platform" down to the ground outside.
