Hello,

I will try to build a thinner wall in the form of a screen whose main purpose is to dampen sound within the apartment. Suggestions on which materials have good properties? Gypsum? Solid wood? Rock wool?

Should the wall be sealed against walls and ceiling or is it a screen wall?
What will the surfaces on each side of the wall be used for?

If the wall needs to be sealed against walls and ceiling and the sound requirements are high, I would build two thin, insulated walls with about 50mm of air between the frames and double layers of gypsum board on the surfaces facing the room.

I'm planning to start by making it as a screen wall (not all the way up to the ceiling, attic floor) and hope that it will suffice. The wall is meant to separate a bedroom area in a large living room. The surfaces can be whatever is best for sound.
