Our house from 1957 does not have a concrete slab; inside the wall, there is pinnmo.

Today (original from '57), it's pinnmo - plastic - pressure-treated planks to level out imperfections - support beam in pressure-treated wood - tongue and groove flooring. (see attached image)

We have drained the exterior so no new moisture is expected to leak in. (Isodrän insulation 20 cm) We have installed an FTX system to increase the air exchange in the house and have supply air in this room.

The radon level from the ground is 550 becquerels measured before improvement measures, so we want to seal against the ground. We want to do a good job that will last for 50 years, so we never have to redo the work.

We realize that our house will not become completely airtight, that is not a goal. But of course, we do not want to draw in more ground radon than necessary, so we want to seal off against the ground if possible.

Is there any "practice" for how to build a foundation to ensure it functions over time?

Should one consider inert materials? Aluminum profiles, glass wool, or maybe Isodrän boards and build up the floor as it is constructed today, but without pressure-treated materials. Should one dig out pinnmo, lay in gravel - pour?

Appreciate suggestions on how to solve this, and then we can decide how we will proceed.

A good way is to dig out the pinnmon and lay in crushed stone, and in that layer, lay pipes that can suck out the air under the house and then pour concrete on it. If you pour EPS concrete, it will also be insulated. It is quite common in houses with radon problems to install a radon pump that removes the air under the slab. Then all cracks and holes in the slab are sealed, and a fan creates a vacuum under the slab that removes all air containing radon.

Check with a company that specializes in radon remediation, and you will get an expensive solution proposal that you can use as a basis for your measures or just see if they present their measures on the web so you can see which ones are reasonable for you to do.
