Hello!

I've just mounted a nice black sheet metal on the side of the pressure-treated bearer of a conservatory. The metal is only for aesthetic purposes.

Currently,
The metal is directly against the pressure-treated wood, and I'm considering placing a strip of sill paper between the metal and the pressure-treated wood. What do you think?

  • A newly installed black metal sheet is mounted on the side of a pressure-treated beam under a glass-walled room, with gravel visible below.
  • Black metal sheet mounted on the side of a pressure-treated beam under a sunroom, with gravel underneath. The metal serves an aesthetic purpose.
Can't see exactly how it's done, but will water run down inside the sheet metal?

No, absolutely not. It would be condensate that might occur inside in that case.

Can you make it so there's a small air gap? If you can have a 5mm air gap so it can be ventilated from underneath, I don't think it should be any trouble.
