We have a staircase with a small platform at the top. The platform has started to detach from the wall (the long side) where there are concrete blocks behind. It flexes a couple of millimeters when you walk on it. Some screws seem to have broken.

How can I best reinforce this? Should I use concrete screws in the existing beam, or a post against the wall in the middle?

  • Wooden platform braces secured to a wall with metal brackets, showing possible gaps indicating instability or shifting.
  • Wooden staircase with a small platform at the top, metal railing, pink curtain, and visible wall gap indicating platform instability.

If it's regular leca without any holes, I would use coarse lightweight concrete screws right in.
Alternatively, nail plugs if the wall feels porous and the screw doesn't hold.

A beam underneath that you screw-glue to the wall would help a lot but might not be very aesthetic.

I actually tried nail plugs today but it didn't work well at all. Do you think lecaskruv will hold for people walking on these stairs? I'm thinking that eventually it will wear out the fitting in leca, but I've never used it.

A post might not be perfect but the stairs aren't that high so it's not bothersome.

Thank you. Should I hammer or drill it into leca?

drill without impact on the machine

It worked! Thank you so much!

A bit troublesome as I broke a couple of plugs, but then it worked.
