Hello,

I am planning to build an interior wall in the basement of our split-level townhouse soon (after I have installed the Granab subfloor and chipboard). The wall will run from the outer wall to the interior wall and it will probably be a standard wood-studded structure. For the concrete ceiling and concrete walls, it seems best to use nail plugs, but in the outer wall, there is a steel column where I plan to build the wall.

How do you attach a wooden stud to steel, glue?

Regards,

Skip attaching it to the wall in the same way that you don't have a wall to place one of the studs in the middle of the new wall. Or am I missing something?

No, you're probably not missing anything, I wanted to attach the outermost beam to the steel column for extra stability, but if the beam against the floor and the ceiling is secured properly, maybe it will be enough. The steel column is positioned at one edge of the intended interior wall.

New to this home improvement stuff, thank you for your response!

By the way, we are going to lay Granab flooring on our old concrete slab. Is it best to screw the sole plate to the interior wall in the flooring chipboard (maybe lay the parquet before the wall too), or is it better to nail it?

Best regards,

I would screw it!

weld on an ear of flat iron, drill a hole in it, screw
