Renovating part of a 1940s basement and it seems like they've used bricks in the mold, so there are large bricks as a sort of interior wall cladding that has been plastered over.

Some bricks have come loose from the concrete, making plaster repairs difficult.

How can these loose bricks be reattached? I don't think there's mortar around the bricks, just on the backside. Loose brick in 1940s basement wall with damaged plaster, revealing brick texture beneath; some bricks detached from concrete making repair challenging.

Remove the stones completely, clean the joints from all old mortar, and then cement them back in. If the joints are too narrow to manage, you can reduce the size of the bricks a bit so you have space for a trowel. Since it will be plastered anyway, it doesn't really matter exactly how the joints look underneath. But everything must be secured before plastering.
