Aluminium U-profile, MDF and mirror as sliding door?
I have tried to find a sliding door that would fit a storage under the stairs. The door's dimensions will be approx. 226x86 cm. I can create an opening that is approx. 30 mm wide where the door can slide in, hence the problem of finding something that works...
My thought now is to cut a 16mm MDF board and glue a 4mm thick mirror onto it. Then I’ll place an aluminum U-profile around it as a frame, to which I will also attach the sliding door fittings at the top edge...
So the question is, will a U-profile filled with some kind of adhesive (silicone?) hold? Alternatively, I can also insert short screws, 4x15 mm, through the aluminum profile into the MDF board.
A construction that will work?

Drill a hole in the board where you insert a nut before you set the mirror so you can use metric thread for the wheel mount. Then you can also have a nut at the top of the blade for future adjustments.

If I pick up the mirror (4 mm) at the glass shop without packaging, it will be 800 SEK cheaper. I was thinking that if I bring the MDF board and bond the mirror directly at the glass shop, then I have a sturdy and good packaging...
